Making Monochromatic Cards + A Video Tutorial

You don't need a lot of colorful ink pads to make fun cards. Handmade cards with a monochromatic color scheme are so easy to make and you can use very few (even just 1!!) ink pads. Today, I want to share with you two cards that are simple and quick to make and both have monochromatic color schemes! Watch the video tutorial down below for all the details!

Both cards are so easy to make. Let me break them down for you!

The great thing about monochromatic cards is you can go neutral, bright, pastel, etc. Any color you want to use is on the table. I decided to go bright and cheery on my first card, so I chose yellow.

When creating cards with a monochrome color scheme, it's important to use different textures and layers to add dimension and interest.This first card is three layers and each layer has a different pattern for added texture. The top layer is the Flower Flourish stamp. The second layer is stenciling, and the bottom is ink blending. Each layer was so simple to put together, but adding each one really adds a lot of interest and texture to this simple card.

Finally, I added one of my all time favorite sentiments from the shop, "You Make Me Smile". I stamped this sentiment in black, just so you could read it without burning your eyes, lol!

On my second handmade card, I again, used those same concepts of adding texture and dimension to the monochromatic color scheme. I die cut the center of a kraft cardstock panel to create a frame for my scene. And to add texture to the frame, I also ran it through my die cutting machine in an embossing folder.

Then, it was onto the scene. I ink blended clouds onto the background with a lighter brown ink. Next, with a darker brown ink I added the Beach Grass stamped image. Super simple!

Finally, I put the entire card together and finished it up with a simple Get Better sentiment from the "Tiny Words Set 1" sentiment set.
