Boo-tiful Chaos: A Spooky Mixed Media Card Adventure

 Hi Everyone, Dalis here.
Halloween is my magical time of year—the season when I can make the weirdest cards imaginable, and no one says a thing about it! I love everything about creating during this time. Creepy cards? Yes, please. Funny cards? Absolutely. But my favorite of all are the Mixed Media FUN cards that let me throw everything onto the table (sometimes literally) and just play.

For this project, I used three fabulous Crackerbox Stamps: Ghost Sketched, Spider Spooky, and Wicked Fun. The ghost helped me complete the cutest little “BOO” sentiment, and honestly, he might be one of my favorites to work with. He’s so easy to color—and even easier to spookify!

To give him a little ghostly glam, I added two-way glue to his eyes and mouth and then pressed on some toner foil. Voila! The coolest foiled-eyed ghost you’ve ever seen was born. The spiders didn’t escape my creative mischief either—they each got a pair of 3mm micro googly eyes, and they couldn’t be more perfectly sized.

As for the background, I went full mixed media mode. I distressed edges, stitched on paper, blended colors, added paste and embossing powder, and, of course, brought in more foil. This card truly has a little bit of everything—and I couldn’t be happier with the spooky, shiny mess that came out of it.

That’s the best part of Halloween crafting—there are no rules. Just weird, wonderful, wicked fun.

What would you have done differently?

Supply List:

Additional Supplies: Memento Tuxedo Black, Alcohol Markers, white gel pen, pattern paper, wall repair tape, stickers and ephemera, foil, googley eyes, silver thread, and black bling.

Spooky Candles

There is something so beautiful about burning candles.
I started with a vanilla card base. I added some Halloween pattern paper
and used alphabet dies to create my sentiment. I stamped the Candles Lit 3 stamps and cut it out with a stitched circle die. I colored them with alcohol markers and used a white gel pen to add highlights. I used distress ink on all the vanilla cardstock to give the card a more vintage look. Depending on how you color these candles, you can use them for different holidays.

Lucy's Halloween Humor

Lucy is having some fun with a little Halloween humor. Vicky here today.
My card has a black base with an orange card. I cut a smaller yellow card and angled it on the orange.
I stamped the saying Do I Fly and made a yellow border with a marker.
The Witch's Broom was stamped at the bottom of the card.
Lucy was placed just above the broom.

Hope you have a great day of crafting!

A Wizards Halloween

Hello, I hope you're enjoying your day.
I started with an orange card base. I added a black layer of cardstock and then a layer of plaid pattern paper. I added a strip of paper to the bottom of the card to give him a floor to stand on. The sentiment and the bats are from the same pattern paper and I cut it out with a stitched die cut.
My wizard image is from the Harry P 1 stamp set. To finish the card, I added three enamel dots.
Thanks for stopping by.

Brain in a Jar: A Curious Experiment in Creativity

 Hi Everyone, Dalis here!

There’s something strangely comforting about visiting your special creepy place — that quiet corner of creativity where things get just a little weird. Sometimes, you even light up the room… or at least, the brain in the jar!

This project started with the wonderfully odd Brain in the Jar stamp from Crackerbox Stamps — one of those designs that makes you grin the moment you see it. It’s creepy, it’s quirky, and somehow it just begged to be brought to life.

I began by coloring the brain with alcohol markers, layering soft watercolor pencil shadows to give it that eerie depth, then finished with colored pencils and gel pen highlights to make it pop. Everything was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, crisp and clean against the chaos.

The card itself took on a vintage laboratory feel — like something discovered in an old scientist’s notebook. There’s plenty of texture here: neon pastes, wall tape, and a mix of rough and smooth surfaces that catch the light in unexpected ways. My favorite part? The brain is on tiny hinges and actually opens up to reveal a wicked little message inside.

It’s the kind of project that feels like a mad experiment gone right — part art, part science, and all fun.
So, what do you think? Are we ready to join the crew at the crazy lab?

Supply List:

Additional Supplies: Memento Tuxedo Black, Alcohol Markers, white gel pen, pattern paper, wall repair tape, foam stickers and Halloween ephemera, and black bling.

A Dash of Magic and a Pinch of Healing

      Hi Everyone, Dalis here!
You know what they say—when you’re feeling under the weather, a little magic can go a long way. And really, who better to brew up a “get well soon” potion than a witch and her loyal black cat?

This card definitely took the scenic route to completion. I started with one idea in mind, then took a turn, then another—and maybe three more after that! But honestly, that’s part of the fun. Sometimes the best cards are the ones that evolve on their own, with a sprinkle of surprise and a dash of whimsy along the way.

In the end, I landed on a Get Well card that carries a delightful Halloween vibe—because why shouldn’t a little witchy magic be part of the healing process? It’s perfect for those friends who appreciate a good spell, a black cat companion, and a touch of spooky charm, even when they’re not feeling their best.

For this card, I decided to have a little fun with the sentiment. I split the Chicken Soup sentiment between the outside and inside of the card—because sometimes a good phrase deserves a little stage time! On the front, it gives a hint of what’s coming, and inside, it ties the whole witchy get-well theme together perfectly.

To make the scene feel more grounded, I extended the floor from the Witch with Crockpot image so the Cat and Broom didn’t look like they were floating midair (as magical as that might be!). It’s a small detail, but it really helps everything come together, making the little potion-brewing scene feel cohesive and cozy.

Supply List:

Additional Supplies: Memento Tuxedo Black, Alcohol Markers, white gel pen, speech bubbles dies, mouse border punch, pattern paper, and black bling.

Hocus Pocus Halloween Card

Hocus Pocus is one of my favorite movies, and so I made this card with the Sanderson Sisters and their book.
Crackerbox Stamps has a lot of Hocus Pocus stamps, but I used the Sanderson Sisters Silhouette over the saying, Hocus Pocus Bunch.
I stamped Hocus Pocus Spell Book and mounted it on a black circle.
There is also the Black Flame Candle I wanted to use, but couldn't figure out where to put it.
Maybe you might have some ideas for the candle?

Do you or anyone you know watch Hocus Pocus for Halloween?

Mini Halloween Card On A Card

Hello Stampers. Vicky here today with a card on a card.
On this card, I used scraps. I had the black and the green folded cardstock lying on my desk and didn't feel like cutting another piece of black, so I decided to use them together.
I stamped the Pumpkin With Crow on white and fussy cut around it.

The Happy Halloween With Webs was stamped with VersFine.
I sponged orange and used the Texture Brush for the black dots.

Pumpkin Poop Treat Card

Vicky here today with a treat card.
Do you make special cards for some special people?
They can have a card and a treat all in one.
This card is scored approximately. 4 inches and at 4.5 inches.
I dragged the black ink pad around the edges. I used a polka-dot-patterned paper.
The Smiling Pumpkin was stamped at the bottom of the white cardstock strip.
The top of the Pumpkin Poop saying was masked and inked with orange ink, and put on the flap.

I dragged the black ink pad around the edges on the inside.
Ghost Go Out was stamped and mounted.
I put some Candy Corn in the Treat Box and placed it on the center fold.
M&Ms would also work! You get 6 boxes.
Trick Or Treat Long was stamped and mounted.
I stamped and cut out the Candy Corn.

I hope you got some inspiration and Halloween spirit from my card.

When Clean and Simple Meets a Nest of Fun

     Hi Everyone, Dalis here!
Sometimes a card just takes on a life of its own—and this one definitely did! I started out with the intention of keeping things clean and simple, using only three stamps. First up was Kid Witchy. Oh. Em. Gee. She is retro fabulous in every possible way, and I couldn’t wait to give her a starring role.

Since the challenge required me to include a bird, I thought, why not go a little unexpected with the Standing Chicken? She adds just the right dose of quirky fun. To finish things off, I reached for the “Wicked Never Looked So Good” sentiment. In my humble opinion, that sentiment could go on just about any card—it’s that good!

At this point, I was loving the crisp hexagon design and feeling very pleased with the clean look. But then… the nest happened. 😂 Suddenly, my “simple” card became a little wild, but in such a fun way. And honestly? I wouldn’t change a thing.

What do you think—do you prefer your cards to stay neat and tidy, or do you let them run a little wild sometimes too?

Supply List:

Additional Supplies: Memento Tuxedo Black, Watercolor pencils, Alcohol Markers, white gel pen, stitched speech bubbles, hexagon punches, pattern paper, border punches, threads and black bling.

Spooks In The Cupboard Halloween Card

Hello Stamper! We have crazy spooks in the cupboard, and we are letting them out for Halloween!
I stamped the images on an ivory-colored card to give it an aged look.
I stamped the Cabinet and put brads for the drawer handles. The cabinet is colored with Copic markers, so I was able to color the brads to match the cabinet's color. There is a lot you can put in this cabinet.
The Spider Webs were stamped with gray ink to give them a dusty appearance.
Ghost Slimer was stamped to scare the Pirate Pumpkin.
The Skull and the Bat think they are all crazy.
The Spider wondered why he came out of his corner.
The last thing was to stamp Trick Or Treat.

Stay spooky.

Halloween Tombstone Card

Hello Crafter! Vicky here today with a Halloween card using one of our funny tombstones.
The Tombstone is blank, so you can add your own saying or use one of our many sayings on the tombstone. The tombstone phrases come in sets or individual stamps. I added the hand below the tombstone and drew the lines for the grave.
I added the grass and the blue aura around the tombstone.

When the Pumpkin Pirate Learned to Dance

Hi everyone, Dalis here!
I’ve had two crafty dreams on my list for a while: making a dancing card and finally inking up my Pumpkin Pirate from Crackerbox Stamps. Well, the stars (or maybe the cobwebs?) finally aligned! The only hitch? My pumpkin needed a body. Enter Kid Witchy, swooping in like a true hero. Now, don’t get me wrong—I am head-over-heels, can’t-stop-swooning in LOVE with her fabulous retro makeup. But this time, I borrowed her body so my pumpkin could bust a move.

To set the stage, I stamped the Web Corners (set of 2) in white pigment ink, then gave them a little heat embossing magic with white powder. Perfect spooky sparkle! The sentiment, Wicked Fun, was basically made for this project, and I couldn’t resist finishing things off with some Fall Essentials Die set goodies from my stash.

And there you have it—a Pumpkin Pirate ready to dance the night away.

Supply List:

Additional Supplies: Memento Tuxedo Black, Alcohol Markers, white gel pen, Fall Stitched Dies, white embossing powder, white

Trick or Treat Monsters

Hello, Janet here with a funny Halloween card. Even kid monsters come out for trick or treat!
I stamped Kid Frankenstein and Kid Vamp in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on white cardstock. I colored them with copic markers. Using a soft brush and black ink, I smudged the background. The trick or treat verse is stamped in the middle with Clair VersaFine Nocturne Ink. The image is layered on black cardstock slightly larger. Next, we moved on to a Halloween spider web paper.

Minions On Halloween Card

Hello Stampers. Vicky here today to share a funny Minion Halloween card.
I guess Lucy doesn't like to get scared, but one of the Minions is going to scare her anyway.
This was an easy card to make. I think kids or adults would like this card.

I stamped the saying, Don't Scare Me, trimmed it, and placed it on a piece of black cardstock.
I used a printed piece of Halloween paper for my card, and put it on black cardstock.
I stamped Lucy, colored her, and then fussy cut her out. I mounted her on a piece that I die-cut.

Boo and the Ghost Minion were stamped and trimmed.
They were mounted on black paper and printed paper to match the card's front.

I hope you enjoyed my spooky, silly Halloween card!
Vicky

Fancy Halloween Witch

Toni here and I love spooky Halloween but cute definitely works for me too.  Is that true for you too?
I wanted to pair the Kid Witchy image with the Wicked Looked Good sentiment in some way and settled on the idea of a mirror.

I stamped and colored Kid Witchy with Copics, then fussy cut a rough oval to fit within the ornate oval die cut.  Next, I embossed the sentiment on vellum and fussy cut it out.  I added some fun Halloween striped paper as well as white pigment pen highlights. Adorable!

I WANT MY MUMMY!

Hello, Janet here with another Halloween Card. Halloween cards are fun to make; they can be cute or scary. This is a simple card to make.
I stamped the Mummy with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on a scrap of white cardstock and then cut him out. Next, I stamped the sentiment, I WANT MY MUMMY with Clair VersaFine Nocturne Ink on a piece of spooky-looking Halloween paper. I attached the Mummy with pop dots so he would stand out. I added two more layers of paper, the black and white striped and purple, before attaching them to the card front.

The Witch Is In!

Janet here with a spooky card. The Witch Is In! Come in for a spell!
I stamped the Witch Is In Hat with Clair VersaFine Nocturne Ink on lime green cardstock. With black ink and a Royal Texture Stipple brush, I added background color. Using a die, I created a circle and layered it on a piece of Halloween paper. I ruffed up the edges and layered it on black cardstock with ruffed up edges. I cut small banner pieces out of scrap Halloween paper. Two pieces of twine are strung across the upper left corner. I attached the banner pieces to the twine.

Boo to You!

Hi, Janet here with a Batty Halloween card!
I stamped 2 sets of swarming bats with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on white cardstock. Next, I stamped, Boo to You, with Clair VersaFine Nocturne Ink below the bats. I rounded the corners on all the layers. Using a soft brush and black ink, I lightly colored the background. I layered that on black, then on Halloween paper with bats. The final layer is black on a white card.
