Hi everyone! It's Lindsay here from Crafting While Caffeinated Blog and YouTube Channel. I am so excited to share today's video tutorial with you all!! It's all about masking with freezer paper! It's super easy and you only need a few supplies. Watch the video tutorial below for all the details!
The video above contains products that were sent to me free of charge for design purposes. I only ever design for companies I can stand behind 100%! This post also contain affiliate links.
To start, let me say that you need two things for this technique. You need freezer paper, not parchment, not wax, FREEZER PAPER. You also need an iron (or a flat iron).
The first thing you need to do is cut your freezer paper into the shape you want to mask. I actually die cut mine and it worked out really well. To die cut I used my big shot and oval die cuts. Then, I ironed the "masks" onto watercolor paper. You can use whatever cardstock is suitable for your project. For one project I used the oval and on the other I used the area around the oval.
Be sure when you iron the mask you have the shiny plastic side towards the paper and you are ironing on the paper like side. You don't want to do this backward!
Once your masks are in place you're good to go! I ink blended around the oval and then sprinkled it with a bit of water for a bleaching effect. On the second project, I watercolored inside the oval die cut. Then, you just peel the mask off, carefully. Once you get it started it does peel right up! The mask held up so well and left such crisp lines!
Inside the masked oval on the ink blended background, I stamped the "Thanks Big" stamp from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps. I absolutely love this stamp. It is the perfect size to be the focal point on your card!
On my second card, I used a few stamps from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps. The silhouette image is called "Moonlight Fairy" and the sentiment is "Look for Rainbows". I love the silhouette stamps from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps. They are such a great addition to so many backgrounds where I want to use fun techniques!
Before I go here's a look at the categories that are on sale this month! So if you have any on your wishlist from these categories, be sure to scoop them up while you can!!
